Preserve your Childs’s Art: Always and Forever

I have 3 kids. I would like to save all their wonderful works of art but I would need an extra garage to store it all. My kids get so excited when they show me their art. I have found I not only love their art but their huge smiles as they show it to me and explain all the fantastic details of their finished master piece.

I’m sure you have heard the idea of taking pictures of your child’s special works of art, but I have taken that a step further….take a picture of your child holding their art work. Not only will you get some of the most fantastic smiles on film but you freeze in time what your child looked when they made this most wonderful creation. Most likely they made it for you.20120916-205045.jpg

Homemade Playdough Recipe without Cream of Tartar

All Labor Day plans cancelled; one of my kids is quite sick, the other 2 are full of energy. How to keep my other 2 happy so my sick one can sleep? Homemade Playdough, no problem, easy right?……. except we are out of Cream of Tartar, that is a problem. While online I learned Creamof Tartar is the acidic component need in Playdough and you can substitute vinegar or lemon juice. Here is the Homemade playdough recipe I used for those of use with the key ingredient shortage (Cream of Tarter):

  • 1 Cup Plain Flour
  • 1/4 Cup Salt
  • 2 tsp of vinegar or lemon juice
  • 2 Tablespoons of Oil
  • 1/2 cup of water
  • Food Coloring

Method

  1. Mix the dry ingredients in a saucepan
  2. Whisk in the water over low heat
  3. Mix in the vinegar
  4. Pour in the oil
  5. Continue to mix over low heat until it forms a playdough texture
  6. Split up the dough, and knead in the food color (when it’s cool enough to touch)
